ACTIVITIES: 
*Congratulations to the speech team for having six finalists at the Eastview Tournament on Saturday. Special congratulations to Gianna Givot and Bella Gutierrez who placed 2nd in the honor finals of duo, Irene Zheng who placed 1st in the honor finals of extemporaneous speaking, and Shane Ross who placed 3rd in the finals of extemporaneous speaking.

*Congratulations to The Jefferson Jive, Connection and Show Band members for another successful weekend of competition, proudly representing Jefferson High School at the Hastings "Swinging On The River" competition. Jive claimed another 1st runner up in class A, while Connection made finals for the fourth competition in a row and ascended the podium to claim 2nd runner up. Congratulations Jefferson Show Choirs! We know you will represent Jefferson well at Totino Grace next weekend for your final competition of 2022.

TEAMS/CLUBS:

*Attention boys interested in playing golf this spring! There will be a Boys Golf information meeting at 3 PM on Thursday, March 3rd in C28.


*Equipment turn in for Boys Varsity and JV  hockey players will be after school tomorrow, Tuesday, March 1st at 2:45 on the athletic side of the boys locker room.  


CAREER/COLLEGE CENTER:

*Juniors! Register for ACT prep sessions to get ready for the April test. Sign up using the QR code or web address that are posted on the school monitors. 


*If you think you may be interested in a Supply Chain career, you can learn about opportunities in this field this Thursday, March 3rd during ASEM. Sign up on Naviance if you’re interested in attending.


*Seniors! This Friday, March 4th, is the deadline to apply for an Education Foundation scholarship. Be sure to fill out the application and get it turned in by the deadline date.

*Don’t forget to register and reserve your trimester 3 parking permit as soon as possible. Reserved permits will be available for pick up during finals week in March.


*Dress up in your best space-themed outfit and attend the Outer Space Dance on Friday, March 11th. Tickets will be sold for $5 each during the lunch periods starting today until March 9th. Send your song requests to the JHS Student Council instagram account.

Attention students in the BSU Club! BSU will be meeting today after school in Ms. Johnson's class, C-27.

MISC:

*TJ Coffeehouse returns this Friday morning. You can purchase your favorite treats and beverages beginning at 8:15 AM. This week’s specialty drink is Red Velvet Latte.  Please be ready to pay with small bills and plan to arrive at your classes one time. For this TJ Coffeehouse, Earth Corps will place paper compost bags in classrooms. You can compost napkins, food scraps, and donut bags. Items that cannot be composted, such as coffee cups and plastic, must be thrown in the trash. There will be an Organics bin at Coffeehouse and during lunch starting Friday. Please sort your lunch appropriately. There will be signs and volunteers to help. See you at the coffeehouse tomorrow morning!

*Congratulations to the speech team for having TEN finalists at the very competitive 52nd Annual Bloomington Tournament on Saturday.  Special congratulations to Ellie Meier, who was the champion in the honor finals of impromptu speaking; Will Moen, who was the champion in the honor finals of humor; and Sorin Czoschke, who was the champion in the varsity finals of creative expression.

CAREER/COLLEGE CENTER:
*Don’t forget that you need to attend at least one college meeting before graduation. This week's opportunities come from Upper Iowa University and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Sign up on Naviance if you’re interested in attending.

 MISC:
*Trimester 3 parking permit registration is now available online. Be sure to register and reserve your permit as soon as possible. We expect to sell out again this trimester, so don’t wait to register! Reserved permits will be available for pick up during finals week in March.

*Lost and Found tables are in Flag Hall until Thursday of this week. Be sure to stop by and take a look. Smaller, more valuable items may be in the main office. Any items not claimed by the owner will be donated or repurposed at the end of the school day on Thursday.

*Remember that this week we have a Block Day schedule. Check Infinite Campus for your Academic Seminar room assignments for today and tomorrow.

*Congratulations to the speech team who had 13 award winners at the St. Michael-Albertville Tournament on Saturday.  Special congratulations to the following students who placed in the varsity finals: Ellie Meier placed 4th in POI, Will Moen placed 4th in humor, Kailey Tan placed 5th in creative, Sorin Czoschke placed 2nd in creative, and Shane Ross placed 1st in expository speaking. Great job everyone!


*Congratulations to our Jefferson Show Choirs on another impressive day of competition on Saturday. At St. Paul ROCK THE NORTH, Jive took 1st runner up in class A, and Connection made the finals once again and came from behind to place 4th runner up ahead of Totino Grace. Senior, Aedan Bertrand was recognized with the show stopper award and Jefferson was awarded best crew for Jive's performance. Great job, show choirs!

*The Girl Up Club invites you to join them after school this Wednesday to make Valentine’s Day cards for Cornerstone. Be in room C31 right after school if you’d like to participate.

*The Red Cross Club will be selling roses this week during the lunch periods. Buy Valentine’s Day roses for friends for just $3 each. Proceeds will go to the Red Cross Association. Please note, you will need to show ID in order to purchase roses.


*Track and Field runners, jumpers and throwers, this is a reminder that there are evening meetings this week for participants and parents. The boys’ meeting is Tuesday at 6:00 PM and the girls’ meeting is Wednesday at 6:30 PM. The track meetings will be in the Media Center.


*Congratulations to our Jefferson Show Choirs who competed at the Memorial Winterfest competition in Eau Claire over the weekend. The JIVE choir brought home a first place win in Division A and the Connection Choir was the Grand Champion of Division AA. The show choir band also added to the success of the weekend by winning the 2nd highest point total in their category. Again, congratulations to all involved.


*Congratulations to Grace Jarvis, Maya Holzman and Anne-Lousie Kolstad

who won the Ping-Pong Parachute event in the Science Olympiad Regional Tournament. The Jag Science Olympiad team will perform at State on March 5th.


*Congratulations to the Bloomington Speech team for having 11 finalists at the Prior Lake Speech Tournament on Saturday.  Special congrats to Sorin Czoschke who placed 3rd in varsity creative, Will Moen who placed 3rd in honors humor, Gianna Givot and Bella Gutierrez who placed 2nd in novice duo, Kehan Chen who placed 1st in novice discussion, and Shane Ross who placed first in novice extemporaneous speaking.
