JANUARY 31st DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Just a reminder that the original school calendar had an error, and despite what it said, there is school tomorrow!


The Tennis Booster Club is holding a PAC meeting on Tuesday, February 6th at 7:00pm in the Media Center.

This week in Metro West Conference Alpine ski racing, the Bloomington Varsity Boys team took first place and the Varsity Girls took third place. The Varsity Boys dominated the race with four of the top six racers coming from Bloomington. The girls also excelled, on an individual level, with a notable first place finish by Morgan Gasser. Congratulations to all of the Varsity and JV racers.

The Jefferson Show Choirs performed in a competition in Altoona, Wisconsin over the weekend. The Jive choir won first place in the Prep Division and were finalists, and the Connection choir was awarded Grand Champion. They also won Best Band, Best Vocals, and Best Choreography. Congratulations to the choirs for their outstanding performances!

ACTIVITIES:
Interested in biology and doing research in Costa Rica? This trip is open to 9th-12th graders who are interested in doing biological research this summer from July 25th - August 4th. Students can sell coffee to offset the cost of the trip. If you're interested in learning more, please attend an informational meeting on January 31st or February 6th at 5:30pm in the Kennedy Media Center.

ATHLETICS:
Boys interested in Track and Field: There will be a short informational meeting in the Media Center right after school this Thursday, January 25th at 2:25pm.


MISC:
There will be a Bloomington Career and College Academy information session here during Advisory this Wednesday, January 24th, beginning at 9:50am in the Auditorium. If you are interested in registering for BCCA for the 2018-2019 school year, please attend.

Don't forget to check at the Main Office Lost and Found for any of your missing items. We have a large collection of water bottles, pencil cases, car keys, jewelry, hats, gloves, mittens, coats, and various other items. The office is open Monday through Friday from 7am-3:30pm.

In honor of the Vikings big game on Sunday, we will be making a short FAN video at the end of 4th period today at around 12:30. All students and staff who wish to participate should report to Flag and Flex Hall and be ready to cheer!

Congratulations to the boys and girls Nordic Ski Teams! The boys finished in 1st place and the girls finished in 3rd place in the Metro West Conference Classic ski race yesterday. Way to go, Jags!

Students taking the practice ACT on January 27th, your ACT money is due in the Career Center tomorrow.

CAREER CENTER:

Congratulations to Jaguar DECA for a fantastic District Competition.  They had 19 state qualifiers highlighted by a 1st place finish by Charlie Maki. Congratulations to all of our Jefferson participants!

CAREER CENTER:

JANUARY 8th DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS:

ACTIVITIES:
There will be a PSEO Information Meeting for all 10th and 11th grade students during Advisory this Wednesday.  Students should report to the front of the Auditorium at the beginning of the Advisory period. Attendance will be taken there.

The Jefferson Theater Company will be holding open auditions for Hello Dolly tonight and tomorrow night at 6:30pm. All forms and payments must be complete in order to audition. If you have any questions, please speak with a theater captain.

ATHLETICS:
For all those interested in playing football next fall, there will be a meeting in the back of the cafeteria near the gyms during the 2nd half of Advisory on Wednesday. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please see Coach Carlson as soon as possible.

CAREER CENTER:

Winter Formal tickets go on sale starting today during lunch. Tickets are $5 Monday & Tuesday and $7 beginning on Wednesday. Be sure to purchase your tickets early to receive the discounted price. Remember that all Obligation List items must be cleared before you will be allowed to buy your dance tickets. Check your Infinite Campus account for any fees, fines, or missing materials.

Jefferson High School and the Student Council are partnering with the Minnesota Vikings, the NFL, and the Minnesota Super Bowl Committee in a community project called Super Kids-Super Sharing. Items will be collected in 1st hour classes next week. Focus will be on certain items each day, but you can bring any item on any day.

Monday: Bring books of all types for grades PreK - 12th
Tuesday: Bring sports equipment
Wednesday: Bring school supplies
Thursday: Bring games, including board games and puzzles, for grades PreK -12th
Friday: Bring used cell phones and accessories

Donated items will be distributed to local schools and organizations with children in need.
