DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS: January 31, 2020

MISC:
*Attention seniors! Any senior interested in graduating with an Honors Diploma should have their paperwork turned in to Ms. Aby-Keirstead before March 5th. If you need a copy of the application please stop by the Career and College Center.

*There will be a brief but very important meeting for all girls interested in participating in Girls Golf this spring. The meeting will be held during the 2nd part of Advisory period next Wednesday, February 5th.

*Jefferson will be participating in the AMC 10 and AMC 12 exams on Wednesday, February 5th. These exams are 25-question, 75-minute multiple choice tests in high school mathematics and cover grade level math curriculum excluding calculus. These exams are the first in a competition series that can lead all the way to the International Mathematics Olympiad. Come to the main office if you’d like more details about the exams or would like to know more about how to reserve a spot.

*Congratulations to Bloomington's Luke Ludden for placing in Congressional Debate at the Minnesota State Debate Contest held this past weekend at the U of M.  Congressional Debate is a new type of debate and Luke Ludden is the first Bloomington student to have ever placed in this event. Way to go, Luke!

*Due to the weather forecast, we will have an early dismissal today. We will have a normal schedule for periods 1-4 and then dismiss school at 12:30pm. Please head to your buses immediately after dismissal; bus departure time is at 12:44pm. Don’t be late!

*Attention Girls Soccer players! There will be a short informational meeting for any girls interested in playing soccer next fall. The meeting will be in the Media Center tomorrow, January 14th, beginning at 2:45 PM.

MISC:
*All juniors will attend an ACT prep meeting this Wednesday, January 15 starting at 9:50 AM - during Advisory. Please go to advisory first; you will then walk down with your teacher to the meeting.

Juniors will take the district-wide ACT exam on February 25 here at JHS.

Please see Ms. Jarvis with any questions.

*Check the Lost and Found tables in flag hall for your missing clothing items, water bottles, lunch bags and books. Check in the office for smaller or more valuable items such as jewelry or electronics. Items not claimed by the end of the school day on Friday will be repurposed or donated.

*Attention 11th and 12th graders! If you are a junior wanting information about ACT Prep or a senior needing help with scholarship writing, head to the Blue Flex area after school this Wednesday, January 15th, from 2:30 - 3:30 PM. You’ll find the help that you need!

There will be presenters from Normandale Community College and the University of Minnesota who will go over requirements and application procedures for prospective students. Plan on reporting directly to the auditorium at the beginning of Advisory period; attendance will be taken there.
