*Attention online students! If you have signed up for an online course for Trimester 3, be sure to stop by the attendance window to pick up your required pink form as soon as possible. All Tri 3 online students will need to fill out and return this form!

TEAMS/CLUBS:

*Attention anyone interested in Boys Lacrosse! There will be an informational meeting during the second half of Advisory today. The boys lacrosse meeting will be in room C107, Coach Cater’s room beginning at 9:55 AM. 

MISC:
*Trimester 3 parking permits are now available. All applications must be done online, which is a change from previous trimesters. Beginning the first day of Tri 3, all other permits will be invalid. Be sure to apply for and pick up your new permit as soon as possible! Remember, you must fill out a new application for every trimester!

*Diversity Month is approaching! If you’d like to display your cultural traditions in the form of  food, clothing, music, dance, religion, or language and are interested in having a Diversity booth this April, please plan on attending an informational meeting in Mr. Hupton’s room, C05, during the 2nd half of Advisory today. Details and applications will be given at that time.

*Students who have not completed their academic plan in Infinite Campus for next school year need to complete this today.  Your Advisory teacher will have a pass for you to go to the back of the auditorium at the start of Advisory.

*The following clubs will be meeting today at 9:55 AM for the 2nd half of Advisory period:
Asian-American Student Union in C21
French Club in C13
Earth Corps in C26
Student Equity Group - Staff Lounge
TOPPLE and Anime Club are both cancelled for today.

Please note that you are only allowed to attend a club meeting if you have completed your registration for next year’s classes.

*Due to further ACT testing today there will be no bells. However, the 3-minute warning countdown on the clocks will be running. Students, it is your responsibility to get to class on-time! Bells will be turned back on after the testing is completed.

*Students! Remember that tomorrow is ACT day and only juniors will be attending school to take this important exam. All Freshmen, Sophomores, and Seniors will stay home that day and have a digital learning day. Please check your email for further details about assignments and expectations.

*NHS is hosting a Students vs. Teachers volleyball tournament in the Activity Center after school next Thursday, February 27th. The cost is $5 to play or $3 to watch. You can sign up with the QR codes posted around the school and give your entry money to Ms. Lauer, Ms. Pagel, or Mr. Johnson. Tickets to watch will be sold at the door. Get a team together and come support the National Honor Society!

*Congratulations to Sam Wallace who won the Section 2AA dive championship! He set a pool record with 458.5. We’re proud of you, Sam!

*All the best of luck to Gracelyn Roy as she heads to the state gymnastics competition this weekend. Good luck, Gracelyn!

CAREER/COLLEGE CENTER:
*Next Thursday’s Career Spotlight Speaker of the week comes to us from Job Corps to talk about free-of-charge training and education programs to match eligible students with careers. Sign up online if you’re interested in attending.

*Representatives from the following colleges/universities will be visiting the Media Center next week:
Rainy River Community College on Monday
Winona State University and the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse on Wednesday
Upper Iowa University on Thursday.

We will also accept more poetry. Please submit your work to jeffersonlitmag@gmail.com or see Mr. Hupton for more details.

*Juniors, if you have not completed the ACT Inventory yet, your last chance to do so is today! Stop by the Red Lab between 2:45 - 3:30 this afternoon to fill it out. It should take 20 minutes or less to complete. Students who have not completed the Inventory will be unable to take the ACT test on Tuesday, February 25. There are no other opportunities to fill out the Inventory, so please be sure to take care of this today! See Ms. Jarvis with any questions!

*Next Tuesday, February 25th, all 11th graders will be taking the ACT exam here at Jefferson. All 9th, 10th, and 12th graders will have a digital learning day at home and will not report to school that day. Please note that this should not be considered to be a “free day!” You will have assignments from each teacher that you are expected to complete and turn in by 3pm that afternoon. All work will be graded. It is your responsibility to check online for your assignments.

*The Bloomington Aquettes are hosting a Splash Night for 7th - 12th graders who are interested in trying out synchronized swimming. Join them at the Olson Middle School pool on Thursday, February 20th from 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM. Be sure to bring a swimsuit and a towel.  Parents are welcome to attend.

*Congratulations to the Jefferson Cheer Team for returning to us from Florida as the Division 1 Game Day National Champions. You worked hard and we’re really proud of you!

*Congratulations to the speech team members who placed at the Lakeville South tournament on Saturday. Kayla Nguyen placed 3rd in novice drama, Emily Shultz placed 7th in varsity drama, and Willa Countryman placed 7th in original oratory. Thank you for representing Jefferson so well!

*Congratulations to the boys ski team who finished 10th and the girls ski team who finished 12th in the Alpine Ski sectional races earlier this week. A special congratulations to senior Matthew Schneider who qualified to go to state.

*The Athena Award is an award given each year to the outstanding female athlete in a high school’s senior class. We are proud to announce that Megan Narveson has been named the Jefferson High School 2020 Athena Award winner and will be honored at the Athena banquet in March along with other metro recipients. Congratulations, Megan!

CAREER/COLLEGE CENTER:
*Representatives from Normandale Community College and Minnesota State University, Mankato will be in the Career Center on Monday, February 10th, and a representative from Luther College will be there on Wednesday, February 12th. Sign up online or talk to Ms. Wallerick in the Career Center if you’d like to attend a session.
