All proceeds from this week's TJ Coffeehouse will be donated to the Red Cross to help support all those who are being impacted by the Ukrainian Crisis.

*The lunch menu for Thursday and Friday of this week has been switched. Thursday’s lunch will be tacos, and Friday’s lunch will be grilled cheese and tomato soup.

*Congratulations to the speech team, who placed third at the Northfield tournament on Saturday. Special congratulations to Emily Shultz who placed 3rd in drama, Shane Ross, who placed 3rd in extemporaneous speaking, and Sorin Czoeske who placed 1st in creative expression.

CAREER/COLLEGE CENTER:

*Students, remember that you need to attend at least one college visit before you graduate. This week’s meeting opportunity is with a representative from St. Thomas University. Be sure to sign up on Naviance if you’re interested in attending.


MISC:

*If you registered for a Trimester 3 parking permit and have not picked it up from the main office, today is your day!  The grace period is over and we will begin ticketing this week so be sure your permit is displayed in your car. Permits must be visible to be valid.

*Congratulations to the Jefferson Chess Team for getting 7th in the state for the Scholastic Championship in just their first year. Congrats to Suwani Hernandez, Joseph Gaul, and Carson Miller for their success in their first tournament, and to Praseed Balaji and Team Captain Jack Bellinger for putting up the highest scores on the team.


MISC:

*Help VEAP stock their food shelves for the summer! VEAP serves roughly 10,000 people per month, half of which are children. Beginning Monday, you can drop off non-perishable food items or cash at the main office. Your donation will help to end hunger in Bloomington.


*Today, at the end of your lunch, come attend a live show in the auditorium. You'll see Connection as they "BLAST OFF into space", performing selections from their 2022 competition show INTERSTELLAR; a journey to space and back! All students and staff are invited to enter the auditorium and see a shortened version of our show during the last 10 minutes of each lunch period today. Performance times are 11:20, 11:50, and 12:20 in the auditorium. We'd love to see you all there!


*Tonight and Saturday night at 7 p.m. Jive and Connection will put on their annual Showcase featuring their award winning shows from the season as well as some solo acts featuring our seniors. Tickets are $10 at the door. Jefferson staff members may use their staff ID for admittance.

*Congratulations to the Jets adapted floor hockey team for qualifying for the state tournament with a 10-6 win over Mounds View. Way to go, Jets!

*All boy athletes who are no longer competing in the winter sports season must clear out their athletic lockers by the end of the school day today.  Any items left in the lockers after today will be removed and fines will be added to the obligation list. 

*The Jefferson Chess Team is competing in the Minnesota Scholastic Championship this weekend; we wish them the best of luck.

 ACTIVITIES:
*Boys 9th and 10th grade basketball equipment return is today at 2:45 in the boys locker room.

*Boys swimming warmup return will be after school tomorrow at 2:45 in the boys locker room. If you have any questions about equipment return, please see Mr. Walton in room C6.

TEAMS/CLUBS:
*Congratulations to Grace Schuck who is the 2022 Jefferson HS Athena Award winner. The Athena Award is given each year to the outstanding female athlete in the senior class at Jefferson. She will be honored by the Minneapolis Athena Banquet committee along with other metro Athena recipients this spring. Way to go, Grace!

*Congratulations to the Science Olympiad Squad on their 13th place finish at the state meet on Saturday. Medal winners were Irene Zheng and Meghan Zheng who placed 4th in Forensics.

*The Jefferson Robotics Team had a successful weekend at the Duluth Northern Lights Regional by placing 7th out of 53 teams and making the quarterfinals. Their next competition is in April at the University of MN where they will participate in the 10,000 Lakes Regional.

*Congratulations to the speech team for having 8 finalists at the Shakopee tournament on Saturday. Special congratulations go to those who placed in the varsity finals: Morgan Haffenden placed 5th in drama, Emily Schultz placed 3rd in drama, Kailey Tan placed 5th in creative, and Sorin Czoschke placed 1st in creative. Emily Schultz and Morgan Haffenden have now qualified for the NIETOC National Tournament in May.

*The Jive and Connection choirs closed out their competition season this weekend with another outstanding set of performances. Jefferson Show Choirs won the spirit award and Connection made finals once again and placed 5th overall. Congratulations on an exceptional season!
