OCTOBER 31th DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Students who are interested in earning an Honors Diploma at graduation should stop by C20 or the Career Center to pick up an application and a flyer.  There will be an information meeting for seniors during homeroom on November 16th in room C20.  Meredith Aby-Keirstead, our gifted and talented coordinator, is taking Honors Diploma applications through the end of trimester two.

Congratulations to Isabel Matias and Charles Maki for placing 6th at the Andover Debate tournament on Saturday in public forum novice debate! This was a great way to start off the November resolution!  

ACTIVITIES:
Voices Heard: A conversation between youth and cops are having presentation of personal stories and skits on Wednesday, Nov. 2nd at KHS.  Dinner is from 5:30pm - 6:00pm and the program is from 6:00pm - 8:30pm. Please come and join us. (fri. , tues, wed)

Jefferson Cheer will be hosting their 8th annual Cheer Jam Competition on Saturday, November 5th at 10:30am at Jefferson High School. All JHS students and staff will be admitted free of charge with their ID. Come cheer on all three of Jefferson's competition teams!

ATHLETICS:

Boys Fall Athletes,
Tuesday, Nov. 1 from 2:45-3:15 in the athletic side of the locker room is the last day to turn in your fall uniforms and locks before your name will be added to the obligation list.
Also, all athletic side lockers must be cleaned out by 2:45 PM on Friday, Nov. 4.  Any remaining items will be cleaned out and you will be responsible for paying for a new lock.

OCTOBER 28th DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

ACTIVITIES:

Students are welcome to dress up on Monday, October 31st for Halloween. All school rules apply to costumes: no hats, no face paint, no masks, no weapons. All school dress code rules apply.

Are you interested in writing or the visual arts?  If so, you should consider submitting a short story, poem, or artwork to the Jefferson Literary Magazine for its Spring 2017 edition.  See Mr. Hupton in room C5 for more information.

Congratulations to the girls cross country team for placing 2nd in the 3AA championship last night. Wish them luck as the advance to the state meet in Northfield on Saturday November 5th.

There will be a brief boys basketball meeting on Monday, Oct. 31st in room C109 at 7:30am for all boys interested in trying out for any JHS boys basketball team this season.

Admissions representatives from the following schools will be in the Career Center on Wednesday: Cornell College at 1:00, and Valparaiso University at 1:30. If you are interested in learning about either of these schools or have application questions, please sign up in the Career Center today.

Practice ACT test-takers: Remember to bring in your $15 to the Career Center as soon as possible. Checks can be made out to ISD 271.

The Scuba Trip is filling up and there is a limited space, so if you're a student that attended one of the information meeting and were thinking about joining the trip, you will have to act quickly to get in your application and down payment. The deadline is the 1st of November. Even if you missed the meetings, you can still be a part of this great trip.

The College Panel is happening Thursday night! Representatives from eight two-year and four-year schools will be on hand to answer your questions about anything related to college. Please join us in the auditorium at 6:30 on Thursday night to get your questions answered and learn more about what different schools offer.

ACTIVITIES:

Spanish Club’s meeting has been canceled for today.

The Jefferson Theatre company is having a fundraiser event at  Chipotle on Tuesday, October 11th  from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. Please stop by to show your support. All you have to do is mention the Jefferson Theatre Company at checkout.

On Wednesday, October 12th, during the 2nd half of advisory, the Kolleens Dance Team will be holding a meeting about the upcoming winter competition dance team season.  If you are a dancer, please come and see what it's about in the media center conference room, hope to see you there!

Students if you went to the Homecoming dance Mr. Kelly has a few items that were left behind. If you are missing anything please stop by the choir room and see Mr. Kelly.

TOPPLE members going on the October 26th field trip to Nativity of Mary; find Kiera or Mason in the media center before school tomorrow Tuesday, October 11th. We will also have a field trip planning meeting this Wednesday, October 12th.

Want to know more about college? Plan to attend the College Panel next Thursday, Oct. 13 at 6:30 in the auditorium. Admissions reps from eight schools in Minnesota and Wisconsin will be here to answer your questions and provide information about their schools and the different university systems. The college panel is open to all students and parents.

he cheerleaders will be selling homecoming garters every day this week during lunch in the lunchroom.  Garters are $10 each.  Thank you for your support!

Powder Puff t-shirts will be handed out at lunch today please bring a $10 check made out to ISD 271 or cash and your permission slip.

Powder Puff players, please pay attention to the announcements later today.  The games are scheduled for 5:15 tonight, but there is a chance for rain in the forecast, so stay tuned.

The Hyland Chalet is located at 8800 Chalet Road, Bloomington.
