February 28th DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

ATHLETICS:
Anyone interested in Boys Lacrosse: there will be a player meeting during the 2nd half of Advisory this Wednesday in C107, Coach Cater's room. Hope to see you there!

Section 3AA Boys Hockey tickets for Jefferson vs. St. Thomas Academy can be purchased in the cafeteria on Tuesday and Wednesday during the  lunch hours of 11:00 - 12:30. Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults - please them out by having exact change!

February 27th DAILY ANNOUNCEMENT

Trimester 3 Parking Permit applications are available in the Main Office. To guarantee having your permit for the first day of the Trimester, your application must be submitted by Tuesday, March 7th.

Students wishing to take AP Exams this spring should attend the mandatory registration meeting on Wednesday, March 1st during advisory.  Students should first check in with their advisory teacher and then report to the auditorium. Please have your Chromebook with you when you attend. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Lang in room C104.


ACTIVITIES:
Congratulations to our Jefferson speech finalists who participated in  the 47th Annual Bloomington Speech Tournament over the weekend.  A special congratulations goes to Alexa Schirber for taking first place in the Honor Final of Humorous. Student names for those placing in the finals can been seen on the TV screens throughout the building. Congratulations to all who participated.

There will be free Yoga offered in the Dance Studio at 2:45-3:30 this Monday and Friday.  After this week it will be offered on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays through May 12th. Please bring a mat if you can and don’t forget to wear comfortable clothes. See the posters for more details.


ATHLETICS:
Girls Lacrosse: There will be a pre-season meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 28th at 2:45pm in the cafeteria.
Attend the meeting for pre-season information, for tryout dates, and to meet the captains.

The Boys Hockey team reached the section finals with a 3-2 win over Burnsville on Saturday with goals by Bob Lescarbeau, Hunter Jacobs, and Blake Camuel. Evan Redepenning had 35 saves.  The Jags take on St. Thomas Academy at Ridder Arena this Thursday at 7pm. Go Jags!

CAREER CENTER:
Attention senior girls: Applications for the Bloomington Federated Women's Club are due next Friday in the Counseling office. There are two scholarships available - one for someone attending a four-year school, and one for someone attending Normandale Community College. Pick up an application in the Career Center or find it online on the Career Center website.

Congrats to Andy Pfau, Sam Wallace, and Jacob Hobbs who competed at Section 2AA diving on Thursday night. Andy placed 2nd and moves onto state!



There will be a Girls Lacrosse pre-season meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 28th at 2:45pm in the cafeteria. Attend the meeting for pre-season information, for tryout dates, and to meet the captains.

February 23nd DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

The AP Exam Registration meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 1st, during advisory in the front of the auditorium. Students wishing to take an AP exam this spring should check in with their advisory teacher, and then report to the auditorium with their Chromebook. This is a mandatory meeting if you plan to take AP exams this spring. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Lang in room C104.


TJ Coffeehouse will be open for business tomorrow morning between 8:15am and 10:00am. Specialty drinks this week are Peppermint Mocha and Red Velvet Latte. Don’t forget to try the new pineapple mango smoothie. Clementine oranges will be available for $0.25 each. If at all possible, using one dollar bills for payment would be greatly appreciated. Congratulations to the speech team for a great showing at the Eastview Tournament last weekend.  We had 9 students win awards.


ATHLETICS:

ATHLETICS:
Kyle Schneider placed 17th and Morgan Gasser was 19th overall at the State Alpine Meet on Tuesday. Congratulations to them both.


CAREER CENTER:

A representative from Southwest Minnesota State University will visit the career center tomorrow at 9:20am. If interested, please stop by the Career Center to sign up and get a pass.

A recruiter for the Marines will be in the lunchroom today during lunches. Stop by their table for more information on the Marine Corps.

ACTIVITIES:

Congratulations to Molly Roach on being named Bloomington Jefferson’s 2017 Athena Award winner.

A table for Lost and Found items has been set up in Flag Hall.  Please stop by if you are missing anything. Any items remaining after 3pm this Friday will be donated.

ATHLETICS:

Girls Golf: There will be a brief informational meeting after school on Tuesday, February 21st in room C109.

Boys Hockey won the Metro West Conference last night with a 3-2 win over Chanhassen.  Goals were made by Bob Lescarbeau and Blake Camuel with the game winning goal by Lukas Panvica.  The Jags finish the regular season against Benilde St. Margaret at St. Louis Park on Saturday night.


CAREER CENTER:

A representative from St. Cloud State will be in the Career Center tomorrow at 8:50am. If you are interested, please stop by the Career Center today to sign up and get a pass.

If you did not pick up your Practice ACT results yet, you can find them in the Career Center.

Welcome back to the Competitive Cheer Squad who placed 15th in their competition cheer event and were NATIONAL CHAMPIONS in their game day event.  Congratulations to all the coaches and team members.

February 13th DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

ACTIVITIES:

Congratulations to the Bloomington Speech Team for placing 5th at the Lakeville South Tournament on Saturday.  The following students advanced to the final round of their category in varsity:  Alexa Schirber, Isabel Taylor, Ian Klein, Amelia Miller, Annika Ronning and  Isabella Phan.

In the novice finals: Willa Countryman, Dakota Buechler, Timothy Lueth and Sophie Si.

Honorable mention went to the following students: Claire Miller, Amelia Miller, Quincy Bryant, and Priscilla Arroza.


ATHLETICS:

The Boys Hockey team beat St Louis Park 3-2 on Saturday with goals by Tristan Larson, Bob Lescarbeau, and Nick Goedderz. The next game is Tuesday against Chanhassen. Come out and root on the Jags!

The Girls Varsity Hockey team lost to Minnetonka on Friday night in the 1st round of sections.  It was a great effort by the team who competed all evening long.

Competitive Cheer moved from their division of 51 teams into finals on Sunday where they finished 1st.  Congratulations to both the team and coaching staff.

Congratulations to Matt Clarke and Anders Olson who both qualified for the state nordic meet next week in Biwabik.  Matt finished 10th and Anders 12th at the sectional race.


CAREER CENTER:

A representative from the University of Nebraska will be in the Career Center tomorrow at 1:00. If you have questions for their rep, or are interested in learning more, stop by the Career Center today to sign up and get a pass.

ATHLETICS:
Congrats to Morgan Gasser and Kyle Schneider on qualifying for the state alpine meet next week in Biwabik.

Jag boy’s hockey won its 4th in a row last night with 3-0 over Chaska. Goals by Tristen Larson, Blake Camuel, and Nathan Johannes led the way. Evan Redepenning had 24 saves to earn a shutout. Big game on Thursday night as Duluth East comes to Big.


CAREER CENTER:

Colleges are starting to visit again! Next week the following schools will be in the Career Center: MSU-Mankato on Monday, Nebraska on Tuesday, St. Cloud State on Thursday, and Southwest Minnesota State on Friday. Stop by the Career Center to sign up and get a pass. These visits are for admitted students with questions or prospective students looking for more information. ​

February is "I Love to Read Month."  Students -- you can "Get Caught Reading" by your teachers today through February 17th.  If your teacher sees you reading, he or she may hand you a ticket.  If you receive a ticket, turn it into the jar in the Media Center, and you will be eligible for a Caribou gift card!  Three tickets will be drawn Tuesday, February 21st.  Good luck -- and happy reading!!

JHS Student Council is holding a Blood Drive on Friday February 10th.  Sign ups will be at lunch.  You may only sign up "to be a Hero" if you are:passing the class, and not having a summative. Please check with your teacher ahead of time.

JTC will be performing their One Act Play “Inherit the Wind” at Kennedy High School for one night only! Friday, February 10th at 7:00. Kennedy will be performing their One Act Play “The Lottery”

Congratulations boys Nordic cross-country ski team they are the MetroWest Conference Champions. Winning yesterday's pursuit championship race. The team was lead by Matthew Clarke, Anders Olson, Adam Wetmore, Connor Meany and Tim Lueth. Girls finished 4th led by  Chloe Larson (2nd place) and Elise Longley. Good luck at sections.
