DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS: April 29, 2022

TEAMS/CLUBS:
Congratulations to the Jefferson boys volleyball team for winning their home opener 3-0 against Benilde St. Margaret's.

MISC:
*Earth Corps is hosting an Earth Day event in the Media Center tonight at 6pm. There will be student speakers, a musical performance, a student presentation from Jordan, crafts, and Earth cookies. The event is free and open to anyone in the community!

*Prom ticket pre-registration is now open. Use one of the posted QR codes to register. Tickets may be paid for and picked up in the main office next week.

Remember, you may not purchase tickets if you have any outstanding fees or obligations. If you are bringing an outside guest, your completed form must be faxed or emailed to us by your guest’s school administrator no later than Monday, May 9th. Guest forms are available in the main office.


*BEC TV is an opportunity for students to be a part of a team that creates award-winning livestreams for school sports, concerts, and community events. There will be an after-school informational meeting in the TV Studio, Room B103, at 2:45 on Monday, May 2nd.

 ACTIVITIES:

Make sure you are logged in on your Bloomington Schools Google account to activate the QR code. All 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students are eligible to vote. If you’re interested in running for student council representative, pick up a form in the main office. Forms are due on Friday.

CAREER/COLLEGE CENTER:
*Tomorrow is MCA testing for all 10th and 11th grade students. 9th and 12th graders will stay home and have an asynchronous learning day. Please use some of your time to catch up on your PGP activities if you’re behind. Seniors, remember that your PGP’s must be completed before you will be allowed to pick up your cap, gown, and graduation tickets.

*Come out to the annual fundraising event for the Jefferson Literary Magazine, The Crooked Quill, tonight at 6:30 in the Jefferson Media Center.  There will be student readings, a guest author, and of course, food!  You will also have a chance to purchase what is the biggest, most diverse edition of the magazine yet.  Come on out and support all the wonderful artists and writers who contributed to this year's magazine.

That includes parking tickets, missing or late Media Center books and supplies, and missing textbooks or athletic gear. If you plan on bringing a guest from another school, you and your guest will need to fill out a form and fax it back to the school NO LATER THAN MAY 9th, the Monday before the dance. Ticket pre-registration will begin on Wednesday, May 27th.

*11TH GRADE STUDENTS: The district ACT is being given this Thursday, April 14 at JHS. You will need to arrive at school with your fully charged, school issued Chromebook and charger.  If you do not have a school issued Chromebook, be sure to visit the Media Center ASAP to get one. We will not be able to give out loaners on the day of testing. Check your school email for more detailed information. See Ms. Jarvis or Ms. Wallerick with any questions. Students should check their email or the posted lists for their ACT room assignments. Lists are posted in Flag Hall, the Main Office, and downstairs.

*Congratulations to the Jefferson Robotics Team. Out of the 55 teams present at the University of Minnesota 10,000 Lakes Regional Tournament, our team made it all the way to the semifinals. The team also won the Excellence in Engineering Award. Congratulations to a great season, team BJORG!
