September 30th DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

The cheerleaders will be selling homecoming garters every day next week during lunch in the lunchroom.  Garters are $10 each.  Thank you for your support!

Students who were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship should come to the main office at the end of period 5 on today to have their picture taken.  

CAREER CENTER:

The following schools will have reps in the Career Center on Monday: Northern Arizona University at 8:15, Arcadia University in Pennsylvania at 1:00, and Dartmouth College at 2:00.  If you are interested in any of these schools, sign up in the Career Center to get a pass. ​

October is College Knowledge Month! Many schools in Minnesota waive application fees for part or all of October. Seniors, if you would like help with college applications or essays during A-sem, there will be help available during October. You can sign up in the Career Center. Please do this no later than 6th hour on Tuesday of each week.

Congratulations to Allegro Wang and Renee Szafraniec for placing in double octofinals in policy debate on Monday at the Valley Debate Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa.  

Robotics Club - This is the last week to sign up for the Jefferson Robotics Club. If you have questions please see Mr Verdegan in Room A104.


ATHLETICS:
Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams for their performance in yesterday's home invitational.  JV Boys were 2nd, JV Girls were 4th, Varsity Boys were 5th and Varsity Girls were 1st.  Go Jags.


CAREER CENTER:
Students taking the October 15 PSAT, please remember to bring in your check for $25 to the Career Center soon and get your PSAT Student Guide in return.
A representative from Hennepin Technical College will visit the Career Center on tomorrow at 1:00. If interested, please sign up in the Career Center to get a pass.

Juniors and Seniors, the College Fair is next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Plan ahead! See Mrs. Linscheid in the Career Center for more information.

Interested in engineering? The American Council of Engineering Companies of America is having a kick-off event for their engineering Explorers program on Monday, Oct. 3 at 7:00.  See Mrs. Linscheid for more information.

Are you interested in coding? Do you like to build and create machines? Here at JHS we will be starting and all girls vex robotics team. If you are interested in joining, be sure to walk on down to room A104 and talk to Mr. Verdegan.

There will be a meeting for those interested in going to Spain during the second half of advisory on Wednesday the 21st. It will be in Mr. Takalo's room, C12.  If you can't make it stop by and get on the email list.

The cost is $25 and checks made out to ISD 271 can be brought to the Career Center. There are 125 seats available, so register early to guarantee your spot.
