May 31th DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

ACTIVITIES:
*The Connection Show Choir Band is looking for a drummer and bass guitar player.... If interested,  see Mr. Kelly this week.

*Attention GSA students: There will be a meeting today after school in the Career Center.

*Seniors:  all Chromebook equipment is due Friday, June 2nd. Please turn in your Chromebooks, chargers, and cases during 6th period after final exams. If you do not have a 6th period class, return your equipment to the Media Center before leaving the building after your last class of the term. If equipment is missing or damaged, fines will be assessed. Missing devices will be disabled.  Thank you.

ATHLETICS:
*All 9th, 10th and JV Baseball players will be turning in their equipment and their locks after school  today at 2:45 in the boys locker room. Please contact Mr. Walton in C-06 if you have any questions.

*Attention Jaguar Super Fans, we need you!  The boys lacrosse team is set to battle Kennedy on Friday night at 6pm at Kennedy and we need a loud and proud Jaguar crowd!

*Boys JV and Varsity Track and Field athletes who do not qualify for the state tournament are required to turn in their uniforms and locks after school on Friday, June 2nd at 2:45.  Any senior athletes who do not turn in their equipment or locks will be added to the obligation list and will not receive their diploma until these obligations are met.  Please contact Mr. Walton in C-06 if you have any questions.

*A reminder to students who were unable to attend the award ceremony earlier this week: Please come to pick up your awards as soon as possible.  Academic Letter Awards and Academic Decile awards can be found in the Counseling Center.  All other awards, including Theater awards can be found in the Main Office.  

*For students who ordered a DVD of the Aladdin production: You may pick up your DVD in the Main Office.

*Seniors – It’s Not Too Late!  If you haven’t registered for the Senior All Night Party, please register now.  There are forms in the main office  or you can access the form from the Jefferson website under Announcements.  Don’t miss out on this fun evening with friends, entertainment and food!   Just a reminder that all Seniors will need identification when checking in for the Senior Party.

*Attention all Box City Vigil attendees- Be there tonight at 7:00 pm in the Oak Grove Presbyterian church parking lot. The event is still on.  Please be aware of the following:
  • You will need to bring cardboard and a tarp
  • Make sure to dress in layers
  • Walk-in’s are welcome for $5 at the door
Please come and support a great cause!

*The final TJ Coffeehouse for this school year is open for business today from 8:15-10am.  Come down to the cafeteria to enjoy delicious treats and beverages and show to your appreciation to the students for a job well-done! Remember, payment using single dollar bills is appreciated!

ATHLETICS:
*Jefferson’s Senior Night at the Ballpark is tonight at 7:00pm at a game against Chaska.  Everyone is welcome to attend the game and support the home team.

*Congratulations to the girls track team for defending their Metro West title last night.  Your first place Jags out-scored second place Chaska 208 to 115.  Thirteen Jags earn all conference honors.  Macya Boyd, Kailynn Blanchard, Julia Benson, Molly Roach, Elena Hayday, Celena Rea, Kristin Sako, Alyssa Lind, Samantha Sunnarborg, Emma Peterson, Elise Longley, Alyssa Wynn and Isabel Fredrickson.  Another four received honorable mention - Claire Carlson, Erin Drewitz, Kaitlyn Behrns, and Paige Sorenson.  Great work!

*For the 100th year anniversary of Bloomington Public Schools, Jefferson is going to bury a time capsule that will be opened in 25 years (2042). This is your chance to submit something for that time capsule and be remembered!

We are looking for written submissions and photos.  Written submissions could include short essays, stories, letters to students in the future, tweets, and anything else that might shine a light on life in 2017. Photos should demonstrate life in 2017 and have a short caption on the bottom or back.

You can email your submission to Principal Anderson (janderson3@isd271.org) or drop them off to Mrs. Clark in the Main Office.

*Seniors:  all Media Center materials and fees are due today.  If you MUST have a book for class, you need to clear it with the Media Center staff first to be able to keep it longer. Obligations may be viewed in Infinite Campus under Fees. You must take care of your obligations to receive a cap and gown on May 15th. Any student with a book out after Friday, May 26th will be assessed a $5 late fee.  Please see the Media Center staff if you have questions.

ATHLETICS:
*Congratulations to the Girls Track Team.  Last Friday, they finished 2nd at the Edina Invitational.  They followed that up last night, placing 3rd at the True Team Section Meet.  Next week, they'll compete in the conference championship as they try to defend their title from a year ago.  Good luck!

*Box City Vigil is coming up in just three weeks! It's happening on Friday, May 19th at 7:00 pm in the back lot of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church. Box City is a fun event with the primary purpose of bringing  awareness to youth homelessness in Bloomington. Please turn in your forms by Tuesday, May 9th if you would like a T-shirt. Pick up your Box City registration form in the main office today or stop by our booth on Diversity Day.

* A reminder: If you are planning on going to prom this year, please check Infinite Campus to make sure that you have taken care of any outstanding fees or materials. All obligations must be cleared before you will be allowed to purchase dance tickets. Obligations can be found under the FEES tab of your Infinite Campus account. Also be aware that you can only pay for prom tickets with a check. No cash or credit payments will be accepted.  Please make your checks out to ISD271.
