April 28th DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

*Planning on going to prom? Make sure to check Infinite Campus for any outstanding fees or materials. All obligations must be paid before you will be allowed to buy dance tickets.

*Attention all sophomores and juniors. Today is the last day to apply to be a Pathfinder for next year. The deadline is 3 pm this afternoon. Google "JHS Pathfinders" to get to the website for all the information.  Stop by C112 or C113 if you have any questions.

Students, as you know, former Jefferson security guard Char Colbert pass away last week. Her memorial service will take place tomorrow. If you would like more information, please stop by the Main Office.

*Seniors, here is your chance to be a star at graduation. Three speakers will be chosen to address the graduating class at commencement. Information about how to prepare a speech is available on the Jefferson homepage. Senior homeroom teachers also have information and the same information will be emailed to ALL seniors. Scripts must be given to Ms. Duffy in the Main Office by Tuesday, May 9th. Auditions will be held after school on Thursday, May 11th. See Mr. Wills, Ms. Schultz, or Ms. Duffy with any questions.


ATHLETICS:
Congratulations to the boys lacrosse team on beating Chaska last night by a score of 9 to 3.  The boys have improved their record to 5 wins and 1 loss.  They battle Eastview tomorrow at 2:30pm at Eastview High School.  

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team for their conference win over Chaska last night. The Jags beat Chaska by a score of 14-8.

Come on out to the release party for The Crooked Quill, the Jefferson literary/arts magazine.  There will be readings, an author panel, food, and the opportunity to purchase the magazine for $5. The party will be Thursday, April 27 at 6:30pm in the Media Center.  Come support the wonderful artistry of many Jefferson students!  Any questions?  See Mr. Hupton in room C5.


Jefferson Theater Company will be performing Aladdin, based on the much loved animated Disney film.  Performances are Wednesday, May 3rd through Sunday, May 7th.  See the TV screens around the school for more information.


Graduations Speakers Wanted!
Seniors, here is your chance to be a star at graduation. Three speakers will be chosen to address the graduating class at commencement. April 25th DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

ACTIVITIES:
Attention 10th graders! On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week you will be taking the MCA Science exam during Biology class. Please report to your assigned computer lab on the day of testing; check in with your Biology teacher for your testing location. Please come to testing with your FULLY CHARGED CHROMEBOOK! All students WILL be testing on Chromebooks. Please see Ms. Jarvis with any questions.

Jefferson is holding a food drive this week to help VEAP stock the food shelves for the summer.  Students are invited to drop off non-perishable food items or cash to their first hour class. The top three first-hour classes that earn the most points with the most students giving will receive a treat, courtesy of the Student Council.

April 21st DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

ACTIVITIES:
Auditions for the Connection and JIVE show choirs are coming up. Vocal auditions are Tuesday April 25th at 3pm or 6pm in the choir room and Dance auditions are Thursday April 27th at 3pm or 6pm in the choir room. You need only attend one vocal and one dance audition. No need to prepare anything. You will be taught everything at the beginning of the audition time. If you have questions or need an alternate audition time see Mr. Kelly in the Choir Room.


ATHLETICS:

Congratulations to the boys lacrosse team on starting their season with another impressive win over Cooper last night by a score of 19 to 1.  The Jags record improves to 3 wins and no losses.  They take on defending state champion Prior Lake this Saturday at Blake, and they could use some Jefferson Super Fan support.  Come out to support the guys tomorrow at 2pm at Blake as they battle Prior Lake, and enjoy some nice weather at the same time.  Go Jags!

April 18th DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Attention 11th Graders:
Tomorrow you will take the ACT TEST.  You need to arrive to your assigned ACT Testing Room by 7:50 tomorrow morning.  You will NOT be admitted to test if you arrive late!  


Please remember to get a good night's sleep and eat a nutritious breakfast on test day!   Also remember to bring sharpened #2 pencils, a calculator, and a snack to eat during the break.


We will see you in your TESTING ROOMS tomorrow morning!   If you have any questions, please see Ms. Jarvis or Ms. Wetzel.


Attention all 9th GRADERS:
Because of ACT TESTING tomorrow, there will be NO classes taking place in LOWER C.  


If you have a class in LOWER C - make sure you check the YELLOW SIGNS posted in FRESHMAN CORNER and FLAG HALL to see where your class will be taking place!


ALSO: If you have a LOCKER in LOWER C - you WILL NOT be able to access it after 7:40 tomorrow morning!!  NO FRESHMAN will be allowed in LOWER C for the entire day!

KOLLEENS:
Are you interested in dancing pregame and halftime at the football games this fall? Here is your chance. The Kolleens will be holding tryouts for their fall performance team this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tryouts will be held at Kennedy High School from 3:15 - 5:15 in Gym C.

CAREER CENTER:
* Seniors! Make sure you hand in your Jefferson scholarship applications by the end of the day today.


* A recruiter from the Marines will be in the lunchroom on Thursday during lunches. Stop by the table for information about The Marine Corps.

* A representative from Aveda Institute will be in the Career Center at 1:00 on Thursday. If you're interested in the field of cosmetology, stop by the Career Center to sign up and get a pass.

April 17th DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

The AP Pre-administration meeting is today during Advisory period. Anyone who signed up to take an AP exam should check in with their advisory teacher and then proceed to the front of the auditorium. Bring a pencil. As you enter the auditorium, pick up one of each form from the table inside the doors. This is a mandatory meeting for those students taking AP exams. See Mr. Lang in C104 with any questions.

ATTENTION 11th GRADERS:
The ACT TEST will take place on WEDNESDAY of this week.

The room assignments have been posted in several places throughout the building, including the Counseling Office, Main Office, Media Center Windows, and Deck Hall Windows.

On Wednesday morning, you will need to report to your testing room NO LATER THAN 7:50am.  Please determine the location of your testing room before then.

Attention students who have not started or finished their MCA Reading or MCA Math exam: If you are needing to start or finish your MCA Reading exam, please report to the Blue Lab today during your English class. If you are needing to start or finish your MCA Math exam, please report to the Blue Lab today during your US History class.

There will be AP US Government Exam Review Sessions on the following days:
Tuesday, April 18, Tuesday, April 25th and Tuesday, May 2nd.  Please see the television screens throughout the building for details.

ACTIVITIES:
The 2017 Senior Retreat is coming on Wednesday, April 19! Seniors - do not miss this unique chance to spend the day together along with the great people from Youth Frontiers! Go to the counseling office to pick up a form and have it turned in by the end of the day today, April 7. Trust Mr. Mousel; you will be glad you went!

ATHLETICS:
Congratulations to the Jefferson Ultimate Frisbee team for their 10-5 win against Benilde St. Margaret's yesterday.  Go Jags!

CAREER CENTER:
* Attention Seniors! Jefferson scholarship applications will be due the Tuesday after break. Take some time next week to complete the ones that are applicable to you. You could make paying for college a little bit easier. Pick up applications in the career center today or find them online on Family Connection or the Jefferson Career Center webpage.

*If you are a senior who has completed at least 50 volunteer hours outside of Jag Corps and NHS since last school year, be sure to apply for the Walser Foundation scholarship. One person from Jefferson will
be awarded a $2000 scholarship. Completed applications must be emailed by April 15. Pick one up in the Career Center or find it online.

Senior Athletes! The deadline for the Jerry Molosky Born Again Jock scholarship has been extended! There are 10 scholarships between Kennedy and Jefferson and not many people have applied. Complete an application and turn it in at the counseling office by the end of school on Friday to give yourself a great chance at earning a scholarship.

ACTIVITIES:
Attention all “out-doorzy” people: sign-ups for Operation Adventure are now available in C127, Mr. Leverenz room. If you like canoeing, camping and water sports this program is for you. Space is limited for this week-long camping trip in June, so get signed up soon!

ATHLETICS:
Are you interested in dancing during halftime shows at the football games next fall? Here is your chance. The Kolleens will be hosting auditions for their upcoming performance season. An informational meeting will be held this Thursday, April 6th at 3:15 at Kennedy High School.  See their website for more information.
